That page rox xD but there's only a reason i'm quite skeptic with:
"Less food poisoning"
dunno :S one of my fave animes (xxxHolic) gave me a lesson on what to eat
well, they found a dead corpse which had not decomposed yet, the reason y they mistook it far behind for being alive. The reason y corpses decompose not as quickly as they should do is because of what we eat
we eat lots of food with preservants and other chemicals. for instance, veggies are given special chemicals to grow quicker so the farmer gets more money in shorter time, it is known that even radiation is involved in vegetables. Anyway i prefer meat 'cause i got to the market near the beach were the whole cow is dead up there and u choose which part u want to eat. They tear it appart and give them to u, since they are a small local village they do not put on chemicals on their cows i guess :S but lately... meat is being given hormones T____T
so dunno i love meat as i love veggies.... meat or veggies meat or veggies
argh! >____< SO HARD!

The Vegetarian Week is a great idea! Count me in as well! I eat meat or chicken very rarely and I hate eggs! I do have milk though. Going vegetarian is good - for poor animals, for our own health and even for the environment. To learn more, check out these great links - goveg.com/vegetarian101.aspwannaveg.com/about/ (Check out the the top 10 reasons why adopting a vegetarian diet one day a week will make a difference in a year, the stats are based on US population though) Okay, to kick off this Vegetarian Week I think we could do the following: - Collect some impressive and eye-opening stats and info on how being a veggie is good for our health, environment, animals etc. etc. When participants will see what degree of difference they can make by going vegetarian (even for a day or week) they'll be more ready and willing to do it and stick to it. - Look up famous people and celebrities around the world who are vegetarians. Their experiences and quotes will serve as an inspiration. For example, this quote from Paul McCartney, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian." Or this one from the famous playwright and author, George Bernard Shaw, " Animals are my friends... and I don't eat my friends." Find more celeb veggies here - www.youth4animals.com/funstuff/index.html- Make a Vegetarian Week pledge, that will be signed by all participants. Here's a sample version, "I pledge and confirm my participation for the 'Vegetarian Week' from (insert start and finish dates). During this week, I WILL eat no meat, fish, poultry or anything derived from a dead animal." We can put up this pledge in a thread or email it to all members to sign it. - The Vegetarian Week should be treated like a challenge and a sort of test of will-power and self-control. All participants should partner and share their progress and feelings in a thread or on the YFCI Blog. Keep motivating each other! - Share your favorite vegetarian recipes and vegetarian alternatives to non-veg food. - Use some videos from websites like PETA or Animal Aid to educate and motivate yourself and each other. - Keep collecting links to websites and videos about being vegetarian and it's benefits and implications. Make a sort of email newsletter and send those links and the info to participants perhaps daily or thrice a week. - At the end, share your stories and experience of the Vegetarian Week and we'll perhaps publish it in ALPHA or on the website. See this link - veg.ca/content/view/26/56/- The participants who have honestly and successfully managed to stick through the program could be awarded karmas and be featured on the website or in the mag. That's all the jumbled up ideas I could collect or think of. More to come soon. Let me know what you think!

there are however going rumors around about PETA I'm not sure if they're true but if they are we better not be involved with them, but than again Alyssa (Milano) and Benji (Madden, from Good Charlotte) are vegetarians and involved with PETA.. so I dunno.. (by the way Good Charlotte made a song about animal cruelty, it's a little bit about what humans do to eachother as well but it's more about animal cruelty, anyways it's called In this world if anyone is up for it I'll post the lyrics later)

Just thought I'd randomly post my opinion about going vegetarian. I think it is somehow unnatural... Yesh, I said it. Unnatural. We first were hunter gatherers for a long-long time, mainly eating meat and raw fruits, and now change our complete eating habits in ONE human generation does not seem appropiate. If we evolve, then yes, it would be ok. However, vegetarians cannot obtain Vitamin D from anywhere else except sunlight, and this is difficult to achieve in colder places. There of course is Vitamin D in some types of meat. There are other various vitamins and mineral salts that vegetarians consume in low amounts cuz they don't eat meat, so they must be REALLY careful with their diet, again making the change more complex! However, I would also like to add that the average adult should only consume 45 grams of meat (pure protein) DAILY. And 1 beef steak is life half a kilogram (1 pound, I think), so obviously we are eating waaay too much meat!! That's not good, either. In addition, I just love chicken I can stop eating Mc Donald's, but not my precious chicken. Sorry, PETA org! I support it, but cannot fulfil some of the vegetarian principles! But I totally would "convert" if I witnessed animal cruelty! That's why I don't eat in Mc Donald's anymore ! Most of the farms here are not "animal exploiters", I may say.

I totally agree with it being abnormal!! It is like u said we only need to have some balance... like having one or two days a week for veggies only can be healthy but turning to veggies completely needs keen observation of one's diet! I was once watching a tv show and one lady wanted to get her energy totally from the sun I was like :What?!! she wanted to stop eating a thing and just rely on the sun ! I guess she thought of her self as a plant and thought photosynthesis was it: You can go to Mac Donald's and ask for Chicken Mac! It is better than beef and it is still Chicken or my best thing is green salad and Chicken Nuggets , throw a cup of orange Juice with that and there u go! a healthy-beef free meal from Mac Donald's

Animal Cruelty is why I don't go to Kentucky fried chicken.. have you seen what they do with those poor baby chicks? (yes baby chicks) Anyways I'm guilty I do go to McD I can't help but love their Cheeseburger and the Bigmac sorry guys but I occasionally eat it.. (not very often but still) I think McD has changed a little with what kind of meat they use.. after it had a lot of negative press.. I don't like chicken by the way, maybe some nuggets but the other stuff nope thnx..
For me it won't be much trouble not eating meat, I don't like most kinds of meat.. The occasional burger and steak but that's it (sometimes fish)..

ohhh, I thought like you guys said that you can't make it through a week, because it's going to be like not healthy! I don't mind! so let's just see if no one has any objection, then we should just decide when, coz Ramadan is coming!

Anyways I'm guilty I do go to McD I can't help but love their Cheeseburger and the Bigmac sorry guys but I occasionally eat it.. (not very often but still) I like their French Fries, but I don't go there often (maybe once every month or two months). It's ok. Its not a crime. Its just a moral thing, I guess. I do like other healthy fast-food chains, but I only order things that are good for me (even McDonalds has veggies and fruit salads). I like Mexican Fast food, where you get to make your own burritos and stuff (not Taco Bell though). I also like Arby's, they have great "Market Fresh" ham and turkey sandwitches. In my neighborhood, we don't have allot of restaurants and we travel upnorth allot, so sometimes fast food is the only way to go. I think we could let the youth decide. They could decide how many days (atleast three or something) they personally would do.. IDK.

Going completely vegetarian, that also for a week, might not be possible for everyone.Instead of one whole week at a stretch, we could make it one day a week for 2-3 weeks or a month...what say?Or, perhaps leave the vegetarian week idea and instead have a "No Junk Food" Week.
The Veggie week should be purely optional. I don't think it should be made compulsory for all YFCIers. Let there be no hard and fast rules.

Cool Idea. I think stretching it out would be good too. Yes, we could also have No Junk Food week as well. Good ideas Anu!!

@ Anu: I think you're idea of a 'No Junk Food' Week could be really great. We can definitely do that. I still think we should get on with our veggie week. It'll be fun and we no one really said all of the YFCIers have to do it. We don't even have to make a pledge of it at all, we'lll just make this week and set a date where if people wana take part they're welcome. We don't have to give up meat/chicken and the rest. I'm sure many might have a problem but what we can do is just try our best to be veggies and stick to it. I understand the point of making a veggie week is to give up meat and so but well, we can't do it all of a sudden and the point is to just give it a try! I think the good thing about this is seeing how much can a person commite without giving in to what we're used to. Let's see what will u learn about urself and plus, let's look at the healthy side... more vegetables and fruits! What does every one think?

I do agree with Noor! It is only some sort of experiment we are going to try it only and there is no one running after us with a sword forcing us to do it any one is free not to do it And Anu , what about making them 2 weeks? one that is all Veggie and another that is Junk-free

Okay!I agree with both Noor and Waed. We could make it a "Let's try to be a Vegetarian" Week. No need to alter your eating habits drastically. Just try as much as possible for you. No hard and fast rules. I think we could do it. Let's give it a shot!
The Junk-Free week could be organized some time later. After all, it's all about making healthy choices!
