Dear friends, I have seen that we keep on posting our ideas & suggestions about the organization, the website, blog etc. randomly in various threads.Sometimes our ideas and suggestions go unnoticed and are lost. So I think it would be better if we create a proper place, that is, a separate thread where all the members & participants of the forums can post their suggestions and ideas about the organization, the website, blog, our online communities, documents etc. in one place. And our Executive Director and Admin Zach will check this thread regularly to see the suggestions & ideas proposed by all of us.He himself, can post his own suggestions & ideas here too! So guys, if you want to suggest any changes, ideas or suggestions for improvement/advancement about the following - The YFCI website and its different sections The YFCI Blog (it's look, posts, photos used, promotion of the blog etc.) The Forums and it's various threads The YFCI online communities at various websites YFCI documents and publications The organization as a whole (it's promotion, functioning, partners etc.) Or anything else you feel like! Then go ahead and post in this thread! This will make things more organized and make sure that our suggestions and ideas do not go unnoticed and un-considered. Please submit any ideas and/or suggestions here.Thank you all!

Okay!I'll be the first one to submit my suggestion here!
ABOUT - YFCI Blog
Suggestion -It would be better if we add a SiteMeter or a ClustrMap on our blog to make it visually better and keep track of our visitors. We should also add the banners and buttons of the links to YFCI main website, forums, OBCO website & the E-Z Coffee Stand website in the right side of the blog to make it better, informative and detailed.
That's it for now.
P.S. - Please post your suggestions/ideas in the above format. Thanks!

Thank you very much Noor! I felt this thread was long needed.Yes you're right. SiteMeter or ClustrMaps are the counters which show how many people have visited the blog.A ClustrMap not only records the number of visits but also records the locations of the visitors. We have a ClustrMap on our main YFCI website.Check it out. These web counters will show the statistics of the visitors and add a more professional & personalised touch to the blog. They'll also make the blog visually attractive & colorful, because earlier our blog looked kinda empty and dull!So now you see! The YFCI buttons and banners will be instrumental in bringing visitors to the website and forums.Hope its clear now.

Status: This suggestion has been recieved by YFCI and been added. We now have a ClustrMap and a free counter. If you think we should get a better counter, please tell me.
As for the banners, I think links would work better because some people do not have a broadband connection, and images can take a very long time to work. What do you think?

Response - Thank you.I have noted the changes. The counter is good.No need to change it. Let the links be there if you think so.But I think banners & buttons should be added though. They look better. What do others have to say?

ABOUT - YFCI Member magazine website and magazine topics document
Suggestion - In the heading on the magazine website, the spelling of magazine is wrong. It's "Magagazine" there. Please correct it.
Also, at the bottom of the Submission Guidelines page, it has been written, "You Can download the Member Topics download here."
I think it would be better if we change it to - "The complete list of suggested topics (for submissions) can be downloaded by clicking here."
Please add the magazine's name to the Member Magazine Topics document as well.
On the Inroduction page of the magazine website, it's written "We would also like to thank her, very much, for all of the wonderful things she has done to the magazine, and the organization." Please change it to - "We would very much like to thank her for all the wonderful things she has done for the magazine and the organization." - This one's grammatically better.
On the Submission Guidelines page, under the Special note heading - instead of "Do so here", please make it "You may cllick here to join us."
In the Magazine Topics document, please mention it somewhere that one can contribute to the magazine even if one is not a member of YFCI.
We also need to specify the word limit for short stories and general articles and limit of lines for poetry and haikus.
This is it for now.Thanks!

ABOUT - The YFCI magazine website Suggestion - The paragraph specifying the word limit should be given after the "For members & non-members alike" section. In that paragraph, please correct the spellings of "summaries" and "syllables" (it's written sumaries & silables there). The guidelines about photos should be given separately under the Art & Photography section. At present, they've been included in the same paragraph as that of the word limit. Thank you very much for making the previous changes as indicated.

about: The website Suggestion: Add this to the website: There was a farmer who grew superior quality and award-winning corn.
Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won honour and prizes.
One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learnt something interesting about how he grew it.
The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.
"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.
"Why sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field.
If my neighbors grow inferior, sub-standard and poor quality corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn.
If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbours grow good corn."
The farmer gave a superb insight into the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbour's corn also improves.
So it is in other dimensions! Those who choose to be at harmony must help their neighbours and colleagues to be at peace,
those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches.
And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.
If we are to grow good quality corn, we must help our neighbors grow good quality corn too....
this isn't my suggestion, this is Zach's cuz it was a forwarded mail that I got and I sent it to him and he thought it wud be good on the website... I kinda think so too, it is a nice message to spread around. we just need to know where.... let us hear ur opinions on this! ;D

It's a great anecdote. But where can we add it?And we also need to check whether it's copyrighted material or not, because we cannot put up someone else's piece on our website without prior permission.
Otherwise, it's a great message to spread around.

Hey guys! I just saw today that YFCI has been featured on the "Showcase" page of YouthNoise under the heading of Projects.See this link - www.youthnoise.com/page.php?page_id=2313I request Zach to update the project profile @ YN and add info & links about our forum, member mag, BTC Awards and the blog.Zach, please add more details there so that people know better & are encouraged to visit & join us. Also, all the YFCI members (including me!) who're part of YN should join the YFCI Project there. Congratulations everyone!Earlier we were on Youthink! and now we're on YouthNoise.Great going! And that story about the farmer can also be included in the member mag, if there are no copyright issues involved. What say?

Yep, I've seen our "Showcase". The thing is, I can't edit this information. This info was added by one of our members (Crusader) who works for YN. I am not sure how I can get this info updated, what do you think?
Okay.. But I am going to continue to Google that poem and see who originally created it.

I have a suggestion here, guys.
ABOUT - A new board for our forums
Suggestion - We have boards for all kinds of issues, like regional boards, poverty, environment, war etc.But I was thinking it would be good if we had a board for discussing about personal and everyday issues we face in daily life.Just as they have a board on "Intergenerational Dialogue" at VOY.
In this new board, we can discuss about issues like generation gap, depression, peer pressure, stress, relationship with siblings & grandparents etc. This would help the forums to expand and connect with participants on a more personal level. We should be able to discuss issues of everyday life too, and not just the issues of the world.
I think the introduction of such a board will make the members more comfortable to share their opinions and increase their participation.
What do you people think?

Response: I rily like that idea.... we need forums thst we can make many threads that r COOL and wud attract the members. we have 'the hang out' which proved to be so ROCKING. I totally agree with the idea. at YFCI we have the privilage of discussing issues besides poverty, global warming, etc. so making such a forum wud make more members active and it'd make the board look rily neat. karma 4 AA 4 dis rockin idea.... ;d
