August 23 - 27, 2010. Leon, Guanajato, MEXICO. Together with the United Nations System, Mexico invites every nation to celebrate the World Youth Conference 2010, as an opportunity for discussion and reflection regarding the role young people play in achieving development with special emphasis on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
Five years from the deadline set by the international community to achieve the development goals agreed in the year 2000, a youth-oriented focus on these goals is required and essential for the efforts to be lasting and progressive on a long term basis. The conference is an initiative of the Mexican government and includes participation from several countries.
The conference has full support from the United Nations System as well as other multilateral organizations. It will be held in the city of Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico from August 23rd to 27th, 2010. The WYC 2010 will have three spaces for participation, all of them linked with each other. Each one will correspond to the three social agents which are strategic in making it possible for young people to be very involved in their own development. It is about the young people, the non-governmental organizations, the governments and the legislators; the Social Forum, Governments Forum and the Legislators Forum were created with this in mind.More info on their Webpage: youth2010.org/
