I realized we never really had a thread specifically for the War in Iraq. Lets bring this up for discussion.
Main Questions: What is your opinion of the Iraq War? Should it be fought? Should the U.S. pullout, or create a scheduled withdrawl? What should the next U.S. president do?

Yes, we never had a topic to talk about the war in Iraq, although it's not really a war. The next president should lessen the number of the US army and should leave the Iraqi Police take more responsibility. And it's not a war because the Iraqi government or the Iraqi police aren't fighting the US army, the actual war was created by the terrorists who claim to bomb because of the American presence in Iraq, when they're bombing in the places where Iraqis are at, and killing many innocent civilians.

Thanks Huda for the clarification, I modified the title of the thread. I completely agree with you that the next president should withdraw many U.S. troops from Iraq, and give more power to the Iraqis.
How long should the U.S. keep troops in Iraq for completely withdrawing ALL troops? Anyone else have an opinion?

Well while Huda does share a good point I would said that it is a War and a war with are self and the people that live there. I feel that we had no authority to enter Iraq and relieve someone of President who are we to make that choice. We have spent to much money in this "conflict" the United States should feel like it has done it's job and go. We have violated these countries rights. We have freedoms that we love but we can't go around expressing or pressing are views on fellow countries we are "BULLIES" yes I said it we are bullying people who don't have the man power to fight back that much where we could be afraid of lost. This battle is not ours it should have been the request of the majority of the government but not. We should have been pulled out and we are plainly unmoral and unethical for staying. When President Obama takes office he should handle this in the best way possible. While he can't do alot because Former President Bush has put us in danger he should begin to pull out if it had not been a need to protect are troops as they left they all should leave at once but when President Obama takes office there will be that change. We are they youth for change and with Obama we will see the voice of the you heard.

Hello! What about that reporter's shoes!!! What a nerve he's got!! You maybe shocked to hear what I've got to say, so here it goes: I don't hate Bush to what he's done in Iraq, because he didn't make the situation worse than it already was, and Americans aren't the people who are killing Iraqis. I don't understand why Arabs hate him, and he's leaving the presidency, he isn't going to be there anymore! so I don't agree with what reporter did (and he's a Saddam-supporter btw) even if he hated Bush sooo much, he shouldn't have done that, because it's VERY impolite!!!!!! And I can't tell you how impolite it is, because now when the press talks about this issue, it won't even mention his name, they'll say an Iraqi reporter did this and this will be generalized on Iraqis! So if he hates Bush that much, go criticize, shout, scream, do what you want but throw your shows at a president!!! After he threw both of his shoes (which missed) he was beaten by the other reporters (even Iraqis) because this will be also generalized upon them too,, and then the police got him and took him to jail, now alot of people are demanding that he should be released! And so many tv networks want to make a contract with him and even bail him out! I wish he'd stay in jail because he deserves it! Most Arabs (even Iraqis) are happy about what's done! and were cheering for him..

Hmmm! Wow, thanks Huda! That was a really interesting post, Karma for you.
I also agree with you, that what this man did was definately NOT okay and not in the spirit of journalism (but it was definately funny ;D... i replayed it a couple of times). It was very interesting to see your perspective of Bush! I, on the other hand, absolutely disagree with Bush's policy. I think the deaths of innocent Iraqis, American soldiers and others in the conflict could have been avoided if they had different statagies.
But, on the otherhand, the aspect of democracy is definately great for Iraq. What do others think?

While I can understand the sentiment it was wrong of him to do that.. I'm in dubio about the conflict in Iraq, yes it's a great thing Saddam is gone and there is a chance for a good democracy but I think the way it was done could've been better.. I think so many innocent lives were lost and so many brave military lives.. I definitely have mixed feelings about all this.. It was and still is a war and I believe there are or should be better ways to make dictators go away..

I knoooow! I hope they just leave once and for all! I also read some people from the military field do not think Obama's plan of making all troops leave Iraq by 2011 is gonna happen... But I hope it DOES work!* Perhaps we could get the point of view of people from those countries...? (You know who I'm talking about, haha!)

Haha. Huda, Noor? What do you think, as being born there? I think that the faster the U.S. leaves Iraq, the better and "safer" the U.S. will be (as this is always an excuse for being there: key to our security, blah blah blah). The Iraqi people should decide when the U.S. leaves, and I'm happy they chose to have all U.S. combat forces leave Iraq Hooray.. the focus turns to Afghanistan.. We fight in too many wars!
