Yes. And if the total population is a smoker, then there will be a massive riot on the street to not ban the fags.

Yes. Smoking is bad both for non-smokers and smokers. But people can choose to smoke in their own place without jeopardizing other people's health. I respect their habit and their vice. I have no problem with that. It's just that I'm allergic with it so it's better if they smoke far from me. I tried smoking before, maybe 12 sticks or less in my entire life but I didn't like it. It made me dizzy and gave me colds.

Yeah! I've never really heard of someone being allergic to it before you, Kate! Really Interesting... is it something inside it? Like the nicotine or something? (If you don't mind me asking

Aha.. A very good question there Zach. Well. You must get away from the smoke from cigs even if you're not allergic to it. It contains more harmful materials than the one that the smoker inhales.

(If you don't mind me asking I don't really know where the allergy is coming from. But I get suffocated easily and gets dizzy. The next day I have colds and I get rashes. My eyes are also sensitive to the smoke...I get really wasted. My parents don't smoke. I grew up with nobody smoking near me. Maybe that's why.

Some say quiting smoking is very easy, some say it's really hard, but the thing is to make up your mind to do anything then you can do it no matter what..
Here are some tips on quiting smoking: -know why you smoke. -deal with pressure that face you in other ways. -plan for fun things. -ask help from your friends/family to quit smoking.
this process may have some physical or psychological effect on you, and this begins after an hour or two from smoking the last ciggarate, but those effects can go away in less than 5 days..

My opinion: Smoking doesn't offer you anything. Just black lungs and addicted users!

It is kind of difficult to talk about this topic. I mean, 3 of my cousins smoke, one of them is just one and a half years older than me, and she smokes allot. Then, my other cousin is about 22, studying MEDICINE, and smokes! The oldest one also smokes. I dunno... I don't believe they think it's cool or anything, but have become accustomed to do it or something.
I personally LOOOOVE the smell of cigarettes. Really. But I done it's terrible for my health so I don't smoke. Maybe we should analyse the cultural ideals that may have influenced people to smoke to tackle the problem. What do you think?

looool victoria fumooonaaa xDDD
anyway vic's right, we should also try to understand other's reasons for smoking i hate 'em and cigarretes kill them well, let's say, just 5 years before their actual death? If they love to smoke, they should stick with it (if they're conscious) anyway everybody is going to die and some ppl prefer to die young than suffer being old.
also why stop smoking if it is bad for ur health but eating junk food or drinkin' stuff like Dasani and those waters that cause u cancer as well? we humans are contradictory, i'm one myself xDDD loool sry to all smokers out there, i didn't thought about this =)

Voted: YES Name: Renee Country: Jamaica I voted yes because I think almost if not every one is aware of the health related problems associated with smoking. Being a Human and Social Biology student and having done this topic in class. I've seen how it damages the lungs. Its quite awful. So I therefore say that if one smokes they should think about how in the long term it'll affect them and others around them.

Second hand smoking is really dangerous. Obese people don't affect those who r around them when it comes to diseases and such. and so does those who drink Pepsi or Cola or whatever. smokers affect people and themselves, although I can see the similarity that in general food is addictive as well as ciggarites are. hope u understand my point

Yep, I agree with Noor 100% . Now, how can we stop it?!?!?! mzpolitician, as you are studying these topics, do you know any possibilities for this end? I also had a small lesson about it during Biology, and still some of my friends smoke... As I asked in the other post, does it have to do with the cultural ideals that are set in our society? A scapegoat from stress and daily routine? Maybe we could tackle why people are really doing it and how we could solve it.
