Hey All,
Today, the United Nations, declared today the International Day of Non violence in honor of Mahatma Ghandi's birthday. Happy Birthday Gandhi!
But there is still violence in the world today. What can we do to achieve peace? How can you and me do things to improve the world, and stop violence? What do you think?
Lets get this started. The results will be featured in upcoming issues of our Alpha Magazine, or in the YFCI Blog.

The United Nations sux, the only useful stuff they do is give us holidays Biologically we cannot reach total peace since it would interrumpt the world' enthalpy. Also there is the fact that we as a species are going back in our developping process. We are animals with weapons, and the first thing an animal does when it has the power is kill and destroy its opponents to get the desired power. It's a natural law. It's really diff to reach peace since it cannot be solved economically (i give you money but I rape your daughter) or going there doing some social service. I personally think we will achieve peace when humans have changed as a whole body and become united. Before reaching this stage, humans are likely to go into the bloodiest wars ever until they realise it. This is predicted by the bible, scientists and my english teacher =) and of course by Voxie See this awesome flash, quite out of topic but more or less seing this future human species, will man ever reach peace? :/ www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7348103/

it should be possible for the UN to arrest Dictators without starting wars.. But other than that there's little you can do about violence on the streets between civilians (discrimination, hooligans) without high jail sentences and maybe even some police violence... It's the whole free will things, which can be a great thing but a pain as well when it's abused..

well... I think that the United Nations aren't so United and Equal nowadays. There are many countries that aren't punished for what they do, for example U.S.A wasn't stopped when it started the conflict in Iraq. There are some countries, which can use VETO in some decissions, sth not good for the rest. there should be an independent organization, but UN aren't... Let's see if the condition is going to be improved...

Agree with you in your opinion against VETO!!! and of course It should be an independent Organization and it shouldn't be considering any of the countries with special interest.... No more veto stuff!!! All countries have Humans with them, and their life and suffering should be treated equally! WILL IT BE EQUAL TO ALL COUNTRIES, at situations? I guess, NO!! Certainly a problem in UK or US would be drawing more attention than a similar one in India or other European countries, etc. Like Wise a problem in Iran or afghan or AFRICA wouldn't be getting necessary care while compared to a similar one in other countries like India, etc..... IT SHOULD BE ONE POWERFUL SUPPORTER OF PEACE, without any diversity and discriminations.

Yes, Sorry my reply is late ther is not much we can do on a one person by one person level. What I believe is that we need to point out to all of your friends when the are wrong and etc. That way one by one we can begin to start over. Like people say they didn't build Rome in the a Day!
