Hey Guys! Here's a NEW idea from the "YFCI Lab". How about we create a social network using the power of NING! You can create your own profile on our social networking, add photos, blogs, discussions, and more! This is only an idea, but if you like it, give us a SHOUT! Go to www.ning.com We need a creative name too!

No, I haven't. It should be something creative, like the ALPHA! Magazine, but something different. What do you guys think?

It could, but I think it could use some "spice" or something catchy people will remember, like ALPHA!

I saw that website more carefully today and checked out the networks there. They're similiar to the communities we have at Orkut, Igloo, Bebo etc. - with a forum, photo gallery, events calendar etc. There's nothing new about it.
I think we should not just go on about creating groups on every social networking site.We need to be active in our online communities too.I personally don't think it's right to create communities and leave them there without being regularly active in them.
Our community at Orkut, for example is inactive. We don't create many threads there, nor do we invite other Orkuttians to join our community.
If this new social network, which we're now going to create, is also going to be inactive or dormant then I don't think it's advisable to create it.We should have more online communities only if we're to actively contribute to them.
That's just my opinion.Thanks.

hm, yes AA does raise a good point... but I still say we shud go for it, we dun have to be that active.... it cud be that ppl might check it and go view our website and register thro it... like in orkut... we dun need 2 be active but we can actually have members joining thro that community since the YFCI wbsite is there. so no harm wud be done in registering! right? ;D

I , for myself, unjoined all the communities which weren't active - both at Orkut and even TIG. Sometimes, before visiting or registering at a website people take time to evaluate the group through the participation & membership of that community. Therefore, when they see only a few members and fewer posts, they might be put off. Okay, I'll give you another example of my own experience - there was a community at Orkut for young writers, I initially thought of joining it & submitting my work but didn't since it had only a handful of members and its forums weren't active. Similiarly, people don't join or register at websites if they are not convinced about the activity. If our communities/social networks will be a bit active & productive , then it will help new people to become more familiar to our org. and websites and they'll develop a sense of trust. Thus they'll not just check out our websites but also join us. I hope you understand what I have tried to say...I don't know how to explain! Please tell me if my point wasn't clear, I'll try to put it more clearly again.

oh alright! I got ur point, it was clear. so hey let us just stay the way we r now and try to be active on the orgs and communities we r in! ;D Thanks.Good to know it was clear. Yes we should all try to be more active in our existing communities and social networks. So now what have you guys decided? Are we going to create any more new networks or are we finally going to revive our previous networks? And Zach, where will you create a new post? Are you talking about creating new threads in our existing communities?
