What do you think about them? a lot of people around me think that they aren't useful, because the guys that comform the organizations 'steal' the better things. I think that's a possibility but in another way the donations can work if you can't be near of the people that needs them.
I'm posting this because I'm trying to find in my house things to send to Perú tomorrow, and my family think that this is not a good thing to do =/
So... what do you think about donations?

If you give it to reputable Peruvian organization, it will work. I think you are right, and you should do it anyway. It's a nice thing to do We could create a project or something.. donating items to Peru! Do you know of any Peruvian organization that would accept stuff?

Thank you. I think I'm sending it through the services in Argentina to help Perú, in the capital city of my province. I don't have a lot of things, but well... I hope it helps =/

mmm :S dunno, if it is money forget it x) it is better if they are goods such as food, water and beedsheets, since ppl in power do not need those, will not have any interest either. The bad prob about donating to an organization (apart from stealing) is that they donate to certain centric zones rather to those who really needed because A they run out of time, B it is cheaper, C it is easier I prefer to go myself and give out donations in the villages left behind, i think that way is far useful, when u form a group with volunteers and u are very motivated

It's not money mm it's clothes, food, medication and stuff. Wii! Yeah. Though, you really have to look at a long term solution. These things provide short term comfort, but can never solve the problem. Take Africa for an example; poverty and disease are everywhere; however since the governments are corrupt : there's no progress. Once, you have a good running government, businesses can start (with help), and the economies can grow. Rather than only giving the villagers food, give them also seeds to plant crops, rather than only giving them bottled water : help them to build a well. Those are just a few of the steps people need to take to create a long term solution. Though, I'm not saying this is at all bad.
