This is somewhat like the "In your society.." thread, but I think it will be interesting to see the results. What is your government focusing most on?Please explain if your government is moving forward with the problem, and if your government is say preventing it, or contributing to it (example: War; your government is aimed at creating war, or preventing it). I hope you'll enjoy this

Considering I live in the US, war is top on the list that they spend time and money on.

I wonder, what would you rather have be the top concern for your nation?
I would like the US to focus on education to be it's main, long term goal, even over getting away from oil (which is a close runner up from long term). Their main short term goal, I think, should be to get Iraq stable and get out of there (but don't be haste with it, under haste makes waste, and I don't want that when it's another country) and to repair our foriegn affairs in general.

The issue that the last government in my country focused on the most was poverty ** I am using the past tense coz a new PM was chosen today by the king to form a new government ;D** now did they do anything about it? well .... not really ! People in Jordan are suffering from prices inflation due to oil prices going up in a crazy way this year! the government used to get it for 60$ a barrel or so and sell it to the people for acceptable prices but now that the barrel is close to 100$ they can't do this anymore and so the prices of fuels will go up dramatically ** and so everything else will** whereas people's salaries are still the same ! they are thinking of giving raises to employees but no matter what there will be an effect on people's lives! believe it or not some people get 150-200 JDs (( 200$-300$)) a month! imagine a family of 4 or 5 with this amount of money only and needless demands from food , to heating systems to clothing etc. we can't really blame governments but still they are responsible for their people! dunno what the new government will focus on, but um sure poverty will be on the top of their list!!

Well, at ma end what is the top prio of our government is actually, elimination of militants from Frontier (teh Military operation is Swat has been very successful winded up today to the most part of it), stabilization of democratic machanizm and the completion of this process with the Feb 18 elections plus huge developmental projects in economic, educationa and socil sector, so basically as any other developing country alot is govt's concern at the moment but PEACE and ELIMINATING FACTORS that are acusing trouble for our country are at the top right now.

Our government would improve a lot if corruption is minimized, if not totally eradicated. I feel bad that some people in goverment are just too greedy and too selfish. What can you do with billions of dollars in your account if millions of people are dying of hunger? what would you do with all your money when you cant buy a palace in heaven or afterlife? sigh.
