Image Credit: Danks.orgHey everyone! Its important that we keep to our mission, but offer as many opportunities, developed projects, and more to our members. So, I offer this basic question: What would you like to see at YFCI?

Very interesting idea, yoseboy! How do you think we can do this? Also, to everyone, you can find a poll discussing this issue on our homepage at www.yfci.co.nr

Well, sadly, I don't have power to change the links at the top. The software we use (Proboards.com) only allows the default headings. But, we could possibly do it on our main website, www.yfci.co.nr!

YFCI needs to define its aims clearly! Do we want to be like TIG - online portal with forums, e-magazines, opportunities etc. with most tasks limited online?
Or do we want to become an organization that is involved in doing actual tasks in real life ( like organizing forums, lectures, awareness camps, fundraisers, charity shows etc.)?
We need to define our issues properly. Global or international is vague. What is our focus? What is the main issue we want to work for?
Like IYF works for youth. Advocates for Youth focusses on HIV/AIDS, sex education etc.
What is our aim? What issues are we working on?
See, it makes little sense if we keep creating sister sites or pages on every issue as an org. - like Green Dream site for global warming, OBCO for HIV/AIDS, something else in the future for some other issues.
But if we want to be like TIG or YouthNoise.
Then we should define the same. We should inform this on our main site, that we are a forum to educate, inform and opine on different issues.
Or are we a youth portal that is profiling the social change activities of young people around the world?
Newbies and strangers' first problem with YFCI is that they don't understand what we actually do! There needs to be a specific answer to the questions- What is YFCI? What does it do? What is it doing? What are its aims?
We need to follow up also! We have created Alpha magazine. But are we publishing more issues? We promised to everyone that it would be a quarterly publication but we couldn't keep that promise. We have the Green Dream website, but are we updating it?
How is the Green Dream site, different and unique from other sites on the same issue?
What is the status of OBCO as of now?
These questions come up in the minds of people. We need to continuously carry out and update the projects we started and complete the projects we promised. Otherwise, people won't trust us. We need to prove our credibility and seriousness as an organization. And we need to do something that makes us unique and distinguishes us from other similar sites and organizations!

Also, when people sound out on forums like TIG, Youthink or VOY, they believe they're being heard or their posts/views will be taken seriously.
But I think new members don't see any benefit or gain in registering at YFCI or contributing here. Now when we submit our articles to TIG or Youthink, we feel some sort of prestige that our article was published there, even though they don't pay us for what we write. YFCI is a small org. and not very well known as of now. So people don't even get that sense of pride or prestige in contributing here, nor are we able to pay or reimburse them in any way. That's why they don't submit their articles or photos readily!
We need to do something to make people believe that they'll get something OR to enforce a sense of pride if they participate and contribute in YFCI!

You posed many important issues that we definately need to think about and decide as a group.
How about we hold YFCI meeting (for members and staff to contribute alike) about this? How do you think we should go from here? :/

Oh wow Anu, thank you so so much for all of your input! Have a karma . I think that we should hold a YFCI meeting definitely, but not a group chat. There are time zone differences, school, college, work, etc. It's almost impossible to meet at the same time! Maybe we could send an e-mail to all members and create a thread with questions for most of us to answer?

We should hold a meeting to decide all this. And make it mandatory for at least the whole of our staff to attend it! We can't let things go the way they've been going! We need to overhaul everything and give clear answers to prospective members' queries!
We need to work on these issues seriously and make it a serious org., with well-defined aims and goals.
I think we should be like YN or TIG since all of us are young and scattered around the world! We could first strengthen our position online, become well known and then start doing activities in real life.
I agree with Vic, that we could circulate a survey or email on these issues to all members and staff to get their inputs.
Chats always have the problem of time zones. We could draw up a questionnaire and ask members to fill it up and return to us by a certain date.

I like the sound of a questionnaire. Lets keep the conversation going, guys! I'm sending an email to all of the staff now and link to these discussions.
