Thanks for finally starting a thread Noor! Looks awesome!I know the Hanging Gardens Of Babylon were considered among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.Too bad, they're no longer there. I like the architecture of the mosque, it looks beautiful and mystical. All the photos are great.I especially like the Babylon Gate, it's colors are beautiful. All these photos remind me of the "Arabian Nights".Indeed, what a rich heritage! You're right Noor, these photos take you back to the past. Please tell us more.I can't wait to see more gr8 places and know more about the rich heritage of Iraq! These "Life in your country" threads make me feel that there are so many great places to see in the world and so little time! Please tell us more about Iraq. It looks like a beautiful place.Let us hope all the war and violence there come to an end.I extend my prayers and support to Iraq and its people. It sure looks like a great country with a rich heritage.

Imagine holy places being bombed? Hmm..alright.So the mosques were bombed?? These terrorists don't even leave religious places! It's really sad and pathetic.Even in India, the invaders in the past vandalised and looted our temples, mosques and gurudwaras and other religious places. And at present too, whenever there are conflicts or communal riots, the people loot and vandalise temples, mosques etc. and desecrate idols...rage & violence does not spare any one...

Yes, they do that here too. Vandals draw "6-6-6", which is the devil's symbol onto churches and statues... It's pure hate.

They're beautiful pictures, too bad that what's in the first picture is gone..
Overhere someone once threw firework in the church while there was a service and they also can't respect the dead overhear there have been numerous vandals painting and ruining gravestones! it's hard enough losing someone can you inmagine the graveyard of a loved one damaged and painted on? Some people just can't seem to think straight..

yesterday was the 4th anniversary of getting of Saddam and his system.. so I'll talk about how life was really when we lived there.. we lived there 4 about 7 years although we were young but we do remember alot of things that happened back then we had all of relatives in Iraq and we used to visit them and had fun with them... now, getting on the part that is related to Saddam... we didn't know what he did back then because we were lil' kids but it was something that was very clear for anyone to see... people weren't capable of doing what they want or speak what's on their mind.. if Saddam heard anything about someone talking about him and critsizing him then he'd kill him or alot of times he let them in a prison and torture them in ways that are soooo cruel.. and also kill his family and even relatives.. now talking about how much did Saddam payed normal people working in Iraq... mom was an electrical engineer and she was once a manager of the place she worked there so she had a high place over there and she worked in Iraq for about 20 years... and you know what was her salary? you will not believe but it was about 2 dollors a month... and that couldn't buy anything in Iraq.. or anywhere else.. a box of egges costs more.. and that was one of the reasons that we left Iraq is that our parents couldn't afford living there... it's a shame that we are left without a safe home when Iraq was a great country and had alot of civilzations.. and now you can see how it is.. we got rid of Saddam when he screwed up the whole country and now we should be strong and start building it up from scratch but although as you see the situation now isn't helping but we should have hope

let me talk now on how is life now: maybe some time back ppl were simply living in complete terror but now from what um seeing on tv n hearing from my relatives... they are trying to live as normal as possible and everyone is just going on with their daily lives... for them hearing about a bomb or anything of the sort has become somhow normal and they have got used to that. but the problem is that it shouldn't have got to that point in the first place.... lets hope they don't give up!
