I just would like to hear ur views on how much celebreties affect young ppl and how much should they be aware of their actions. they are after all just normal ppl and they go through things that we go through, is it too much for us to ask from them to watch out what they are doing? or is it just normal since they basicly chose to be famous and they have to be responsible because there are alot of ppl who'll be influnenced? or should young ppl be aware and have more sense than to imitate celebs? what do u think?

It's never smart to imitate other people you have to be yourself but in my case as you all know I'm a huge fan of Alyssa Milano and she happends to be one of the few celebs that are a good role model and I think me being here is thanks to her she changed my life and showed me what good you can do in the world but I do it on my way just with a little guidance of her. Celebs are people just like you and I they make mistakes like all of us will... But celebrities like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are in my eyes bad role models and I think they should start to realise what kind of influence they have on especially young girls they send out the message that you can only be cool: A If you get wasted every night in some trendy club B Be anarexic C Act like dumb blondes Some people may be offended by what I just said but I see it like that they spread an image that's lethal for a lot of young girls, magazines and the press help with that as well also with that message they contribute big time to the negative image of women, in a time where women are getting more rights everywhere they make it look like women are incompetent and stuff like that... I actually feel bad for those poor dogs they put in their bags what's up with that?
like Simple Plan once sang in a song (Crazy): Tell me what's wrong with society, when everywhere I look I see Young girls dieing to be on tv, won't stop till they've reached their dreams Diet pills, surgeries, photoshopped pictures in magazines Telling them how they should be it doesn't make sense to me
And of course a little more radical perhaps Stupid Girls by Pink I think it's a good song could be a little less harsh but still I think she's right..
especially in this piece of the song: What happend to the dream of a girl president? She's dancing in the video next to 50 cent..
And: The disease is growing it's epidemic I'm scared that there ain't a cure the world believes it and I'm going crazy I can't take it anymore I'm so glad that I'll never fit in that will never be me (Jenny: same goes for me lol) Outcast and girls with ambition that's what I want to see Disaster is all around, a world of despair Their only concern Will it f*** up my hair?
Anyways I think celebrities have a a huge impact on the lifes of especially young girls that are looking for a good role model and most of these magazines show how Paris Hilton behaves and make it cool.. (it's how she became famous anyway, her daddy payed the new york times to appoint her as the new "it" girl that;s when all of a sudden she was famous and got her reality show) And I think that people like that should realise the impact they have and try to put out a more positive image or at least the press could ignore it a little more or put it in a different day light like that it's not a good thing and for example show what other celebrities do who are good role models and focus a little more on charities and relief work or positive change..

Hey I watched the Tyra Banks show last night it was an episode about celebs and models who are this thin and you know to the point that it's dangerous and like anorexic.. She also lashed back on the media they sad she gained I guess y'all heard about it.. but I was suprised she stood up for herself amazingly! She talked about that it didn't matter much to her but that she said this for the young girls that look up to her and for people who are struggling with their weight. And she finished saying for all those people and me KISS MY FAT ASS and the audience was cheering but I found myself cheering as well lol.. I think she gave the right example she had a tape from the mother of a brasilian model that died recently from anorexia... It's awful and a lot of young girls are facing the same thing under the influence of these celebs.. this and their behavior is what's threatening society... I'm glad that you made this thread karma for that and I'm curious to see what you think of it..

yes, Tyra is a very good example for young girls.. because you know she used to be a model and then she couldn't live that kind of life, so she was out of it and as you see, she doesn't have the perfect model body... she stands up to what she believes and I've seen some of her show, it really is inspiring and we need more people like her

first of all I would like 2 thank u Jenny 4 the karma... um glad u liked the thread I think that celebrities should be aware of what they are doing, because they effect so much people and they need to know that. and plus being famous, rich and glamorous doesn't mean to be irresonsible for what u're doing. people in general should taje responsibility for what they are doing and celebraties are no exception! as for tyra.. I really admire her because she stands up for her self and its good to see such a person who cares about the way she looks but that doesn't mean she has to be aneroxic...

there's something else which I have to highlight in here: people are giving celebreties so much attention and they are stalking them where ever they go. do u think that only comes with the job? do u think ppl -media- have no right? my opinion is that the media should lessen the attention they get... cuz its usually because 'A' went to dinner with 'B' and they had 'this' for dinner... why wud they think we care to know about such things? one time I've read in one of those magazines that those celebraties that u don't get to hear that much about their personal life r boring!

yeah I mean even though celebs chose the life they lead they still have a right to privacy I can't stand the paperazzi I mean every day it gets worse they are really stalker like and I mean it's dangerous the way they ambush celebs and follow them they were the cause of some real tragic accidents...

I can say that Leonardo Dicaprio made a huge one with his movie'Blood Diamond'... who r the actors/singers/or famous ppl that u can tell us about who have made a difference? and how can they more get involved? because earlier in this thread we've agreed that they have a huge impact so they might as well use it to change the world... plz share ur views

well I think Oprah is doing a lot of good things with her show and the angel network in projects within the US but also in "third world countries" they can try to get more awereness but I mean I think Oprah is doing everything she can with projects like "Pay it forward" and there are more examples but maybe she could make some more field trips and make a video of it showing what these charities do and stuff like that Oh by the way Alyssa became ambassador of another organization called: Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases Control (GNNTDC) she's going to Uganda this summer with them she does individual trips as well like last summer to Houston after hurricane Katrina to help there with her mother and some friends.. If Celebs become involved it's important that they pick a charity that they really care for otherwise they'll look bad and so will the charity and you know try to advertise and explain what the charities are about and what they want to achive and why that charity is so special and show that you really care etc.. also I think that if charities as UNICEF or any other for that matter should send their ambassadors to schools to educate young people maybe that if famous people come they'll pay attention... Angelina Jolie does a good job with the UN as well... I think she really does care also for the children she adopts ...

Oprah is a great example! she's making the best of her fame! and also Angelina Jolie is doing a pretty good job... who else? how about bono? how about 'live strong' by Lance Armstrong? and I have to include Orlando Bloom who is donating for the environment and he says hez learning more about it!!! its really gr8 to see celebs take a stand and help!! but the problem is that it gets us wondering why they're doing it.. is it for more fame or is it coming straight from the heart!

I love food! It is one of those blisses in life that I feel highly grateful that it exists and in such different tastes... I will not keep on blabbing about my relationship with food, there is a point I would like to make. I do believe that if you want to eat then you might as well do so! I just keep on wondering why do those skinny models keep on wanting to get thinner and thinner... If you have a food disorder then I just wish that you get better but if you are doing this simply because you think this is what we want to see then I am afraid you are quite mistaken. I do not think anyone considers it appealing to see bones sticking out of your skin! It is a shame that our main concern nowadays have become just about looks! Whose fault is this really? Is it ours? Or their's? I think we all helped creating this because nowadays we see celebrities compete not in making a good movie, song, tv show, etc. They are competing against each other on who eats less!
I just think that we should use our common sense a little bit. We do not want to be exposed to such a thing. We need to show them that their weight isn't our biggest concern and that if they gained a few pounds we will still watch their movies and it wouldn't prevent us from liking them! But would it really? Is it them who only has to change? Have we made them become the way they are? If we have had a part in this then I suggest we start changing it right away because it is simply unaccaptable to see what is happening! If you are skinny then you are cute???!!! It doesn't affect only their bodies and their lives... We are affected too... At some point of my life I might start thinking the same way that they do. I am only assuming because I do not know what will happen if this went on! looking good doesn't mean not eating... You can eat and still look good!

Indeed a very interesting topic. celebrities do inspire youth, let it be any reason, from their living styles to their actions. its useless to debate as to y, because its general human psyche to try to adapt what appears to one has something other than usual. as far as the acts of celebrities are related, I agree to most of you that no doubt some of them are doing a remarkable job when it comes to the service of humanity, like Oprah's Angel network, Mark & Steve Waugh's foundation working for orphans in India, A

Similarly Ashly Judds been recently to Asia is walk of Aids awareness prog. Thus, it can not be denied that such acts do work and a catalyst for inspiration. However, as pointed out by one of you, media do at times create unwanted hype for some. That I dont term as a just act. "Inspiration, to add a touch of inprovement to ones ownself and in turn return it to the society to make it a better place for all is what it should be about". An individuals act which may be the out come of inspiration if has positive aspects in it has stand on its own for a long time.
