It's International Women's Day today and here's cheers to all the women and their determination to carry on despite all the odds. And not to mention, the men who support and encourage women and girls to realise their potential. We salute all the women in our lives - our mothers, sisters, aunts, teachers and everyone else who are our pillars of support and influence our lives. We reinforce our commitment to the fight against the faulty mindset which condones violence & discrimination against females who constitute half of our world. Happy Women's Day to all!

Thanks a lot Noor! Great reply there. Now everyone please tell us who're the women/females who've made a difference/ or had a significant impact on your life, outlook or way of thinking?Who're the women/females you're grateful to? Who's inspired you? For me, it's - a) My mother - without whom I can't really imagine my life. She motivates me, inspires me, comforts me in tough times...she's always there for me, she stands by me, supports me and is indispensible for the entire family. We can't think of surviving without her. b) Dr. Kiran Bedi - She's the first woman to join the Indian Police Services and has risen to occupy the highest posts in Police services. She's not just an able police officer, but has also reformed the prisons and worked for the upliftment of prisoners. She's credited with reforming the Tihar Jail - which is one of the largest prisons in the world.I respect her for her self-confidence, no- nonsense attitude, discipline and her never-say-die attitude. She's got a powerful personality and has changed the face of police system in India. c) Queen Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi - Also known as the Joan of Arc of India. She was one of the leading and most prominent figures of India's First War of Independence in 1857 against the British rule. She was not just a beautiful princess or queen. But was well-educated and was trained in martial training, which included horse riding, fencing and shooting, when she was still a child. She bravely fought against the British to save her kingdom. She assembled a volunteer army. Women were also recruited and given military training. Rani was accompanied by her generals . Many from the local population volunteered for service in the army ranks, with the popular support for her cause on the rise. She's an epitome of patriotism and female bravery in India, role-model for both women & men! d) I am really thankful to my class teacher in the fourth grade. She would always encourage us, motivate us and prompt us to give our best.Under her guidance, even an underachiever could score decent marks. She's a teacher, a guide in the true sense.Every student wanted to be taught by her! Though there are many more females who've enriched and influenced my life in some or the other way and I also admire many other girls & women as role-models.I'm, no doubt thankful to all of them. But the above ones, are the ones whom I really have to mention! And not to mention, my new wonderful friends - Noor & Huda, who've brightened up my life! Thanks for being there. What about others?

Yes of course, we can talk about men. After all, men & women are like the two wheels of the same cart.We do have to maintain the balance! So everyone talk about both males & females who've influenced your lives. And yeah, don't call me a woman again - at least for the next 2-3 years!

Inspirational women in my life are (it's not a ranking list or anything): - My mother, she's a great person she does a lot for the family and she works really hard I have a really good band with my mother she's the best - My grandmother she's also such a good person, she's worked hard her entire life and she always takes care of everyone. - My sisters who never fail to amaze me and who are a constant support - Alyssa Milano, she's had a huge influence on me and she's sort of the reason why I'm here making my first steps to help and make this world a better place, she means a whole lot to me. And seeing an episode of Charmed or hearing one of 80's songs or seeing an interview can really comfort me I dunno she's got something special, there are no accurate words to describe her and what she means to me - My friends from school, they're true friends and they always support me they're awesome - My online friends the crazy chicks they're amazing they've helped me through some tough times and they simply rock! - There's also three of my teachers I could mention they are really passionate about the subjects they educate and I always loved to go to their classes. I learned a lot from them one of them was my form teacher they're the kind of teacher that's nice and fair to you but also strict and from whom you can learn a lot about their subjects but about life in general as well.. Sadly none of them are my teachers this year... also I would like to say that I think Oprah is also a very inspirational woman, there's a lot to learn from her and her show.. I think it's inspirational to see how much she's achieved in her life not just the succes but also as a human being it's really awesome and that's one thing Alyssa also has. GO GIRLS! Male: Good Charlotte , their lyrics mean a lot to me and can totally change my mood or state of mind lol They have amazing lyrics that I and many more can really relate and connect with they're most of the time a lot deeper then pop songs (which mostly isn't such a hard thing to do but still) My best friend Ruud I have known him since I was a couple of months old and he has always been there for me and my twin he's a true friend and a great person

Ahh, geee thanks Noor!! Karma ;D Well, I guess I'll contribute too:
- My mom and dad; the love is too strong to describe.
- My best friend Daniel, we don't ALWAYS agree on everything (more like never), but without him, I would be a different person.
- My past teachers, especially Mr. Linzmeyer and Mrs. Fink for all the encouragement over the years. They have shown me to think in a different way.
- My online pals: Of course Noor is at the top too! Also Anu (K) and Huda! 'Love you guys~ ;D
- ALL OF YOU! Thanks so much for all the inspiration and for joining YFCI!
- YFCI Partners, especially Burt Danet from A Better Community for All. He has been a influential person in my life so far, and I admire him for all he has done.
