Welcome Zach.Well in my city, it's been raining since the past three days. We're having elections in our state today. There a numerous places to see in India. In my state Punjab, we have the world famous Golden Temple (the entire shrine is covered with gold!) and people from all over the world come to see the place. Some years ago, the Queen of England too, visited this holy shrine. The Golden Temple is actually a Sikh Temple (which is called "gurudwara" in local language). The "gurudwara" which means "the doorway to the Guru", is the Sikh place of worship and may be referred to as a Sikh temple. The actual name of the Golden Temple is Harimandir Sahib -Harimandir means "the Temple of God", 'Hari' being a term for God and 'Mandir' meaning Temple. It is also popularly called the "Darbar Sahib". Sikh devotees, for whom the Golden Temple is a symbol of freedom and spiritual independence, come to the Temple from all over the world to enjoy its environs and offer their prayers. In addition, the shrine is increasingly becoming a tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world. Here visit this link to see a picture of this magnificent place. You'll love it! www.flickr.com/photos/le_dan/36597295/I'll tell you people more about India later. There's a lot to be told and a lot to be seen!

Yos. The gurudwara is awesome. Just awesome. What a nice place to worship god. I cant wait to see it with my own eyes. Thanks for sharing AK. You're welcome Amar!We have some awesome palaces in Rajasthan and South India. Here I'm giving links to the photos - 1.) The Jal Mahal Palace of Jaipur, is noted for its intricate architecture. The Palace stands in the middle of a lake, Man Sagar. Built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 A.D, was a pleasure spot - for Jalakreeda. It was also used for the royal duck shooting parties. Now abandoned, but reasonably well preserved. In the monsoons, it looks particularly startling with its red sandstone set against the water hyacinth filled Man Sagar lakeHere's the Jal Mahal of Jaipur See - www.flickr.com/photos/dhyanji/177154634/2.) Amber Fort in Jaipur is situated about 11 kilometres from Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. It was the ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa clan of Amber, before the capital was shifted in the plains to present day Jaipur. The Amber Fort, set among rugged hills, is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Sawai Jai Singh I, the fort is made out of red sand stone and white marble. The history of the Amber Fort goes back seven centuries; some of the earlier structures are in ruins. However, those built in the 16th century and afterwards are still in excellent shape. See here - www.flickr.com/photos/javacafe/112314912/3.) The Mysore Palace was the official residence of the former royal family of Mysore.Mysore became the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore after the death of Tippu Sultan in 1799.It's in South India in the state of Karnataka. See it here - www.flickr.com/photos/tudorache/119135716/4.) Here's a beautiful pic of the Mysore Palace at night. www.flickr.com/photos/arunan/40819107/5.) The Palace of Mirrors (called Sheesh Mahal in Hindi) is located inside the Amber Fort in Jaipur.See it here - www.flickr.com/photos/javacafe/132724626/6.) Then there's the Palace of Winds (called Hawa Mahal in Hindi) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. See it here - www.flickr.com/photos/j0rune/113365863/7.) See the Summer Palace on the island in Lake Pichhola of Udaipur, Rajasthan - www.flickr.com/photos/doc18/111278958/There are beautiful palaces and forts in the state of Rajasthan and the states of South India. We also have great palaces in states of Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh. The Temples & Mosques in North & South India are awesome! So more later.Enjoy the above places for now!
