Those are devastating news, Huda... I hope your family is OK! Really, things like that really mean there'll be CHANGE. So, returning to today's news: G8 leaders reach $60bn Aids deal "G8 leaders meeting in Germany have vowed to deliver on pledges to Africa, and agreed a $60bn (£30bn) package for fighting Aids, malaria and TB." This is a really positive piece of information that somehow makes your day! Half from it will come from the United States. Of course, this decision has caused criticisms, and some people commenting it to be a fraud and an inadequate package. Some other measures include: " - It supported "further measures" against Iran if Tehran failed to stop its uranium enrichment programme
- It would back further action against Sudan if Khartoum failed to support international efforts to end the conflict in Darfur
- North Korea should stop testing nuclear-capable missiles and abandon all nuclear programmes
- It had failed to find a common position on the future status of Kosovo"
Paris Hilton sent back to prison Yes, this appears on the BBC News =O! So umm.. Turn on your TV and watch E! News for more info! Lol... Shark trade restriction bid fails In the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), there was an attempt to try and restrict the trade of two subspecies of shark (one of them is spiny dogfish), but it failed. The ones who turned down the proposal said it was something that only matters to the European Union, so they do not need to be involved to solve it.

Hey guys, how are you? I know it's been a looong time, so sorry about that! I just have to do one essay more for tomorrow and then I start midterms, but I'll have more time to post news and, thus, you can be informed! In regards of news, today: Mr. Tony Blair hands over the place of UK Prime Minister to Gordon Brown and is appointed as Middle East envoy (on behalf of the US, Russia, the UN and the EU). "His brief includes Palestinian governance, economics and security rather than the wider conflict between Israel and Palestinians - at least initially." Big news, indeed! He had been UK's Prime Minister since 1997, winning three times in a row elections for the Labour Party. He has turned into one of the most important political leaders of our generation. Many questions about his departure arouse. Why is he stepping down after only two years of being elected in 2005? BBC corresponder Nick Assinder suggests there was a fissure in the Labour government and a political clash between Mr. Blair and Mr. Brown. And this is how he becomes an ex-prime minister with only 54 years and, possibly, with a high public opinion acceptance. Supercomputer steps up the pace "The world's fastest commercial supercomputer has been launched by computer giant IBM... Approximately 100,000 times more powerful than a PC, the first machine has been bought by the US government." Tropical giant penguin discovered in Peru (cool!) A fossilised remain of a pinguin about 36 million years old that preferred the tropical to the southern oceans has been found today, in Peru. It was about 1.5 meters (5 ft) tall and is known as Icadyptes salasi. Of course, other penguins such as Galapagos and African ones, as their names suggest, also prefer warmer climates.

Yep, in Ica Near Lima, woohoo. SO! I am trying to mix my information sources as it is always unreliable to trust only one news source such as the BBC. For your instance, they will probably be the 3 most important ones: Al Jazeera, the BBC and CNN. Personally, I prefer Al Jazeera's Webpage due to its layout. Now, on some more news from CNN (sorry for not using the usual text sizes and colours, my PC connection is too slow to post a decent reply: Protesters torch Iran gas stations "The Iranian government's last-minute decision to ration monthly fuel allotments, as well as increase the price of gas, triggered protests and riots -- a rarity in the Islamic republic -- according to Iranian media reports." Source: www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/06/27/iran.fuel/index.htmlFujimori to run in Japan elections OMG! I was completely shocked when I read this. Alberto Fujimori is an ex-Peruvian president that earned a very bad reputation due to another character in Peruvian history, Vladimiro Montesinos. His ethical attitude towards diminishing terrorism still is a matter of dispute (should we kill the terrorists? Yeah). Beyond other crimes, Mr. Fujimori probably stole a loooot of the Peruvian money and fled to Japan. Then, nobody knows why, he went to Chile and got house arrested "No rules bar Japanese candidate under house arrest overseas from running. Peru wants to try Fujimori on charges of human rights abuses and corruption". Source: www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/06/27/fujimori.japan.ap/index.htmlThis one is really interesting: Step by step, researcher looks for sexuality clues Is homosexuality genetical? Mmm.. Take a look at www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/06/26/sexuality/index.htmlMore news later! Have to go to school. Take care everyone.

Yeah, and peruvian ppl want him back so badly xDD Anyway I think he made quite valuable sacrifices to upgrade Peru after lil Allan Garcia played with it (hell surely suck straight at the Sims game)
The news 'bout gays 're very interesting (and I was thinking harvey was lying xD) Valuable source as I was going to do an essay of why homosexuality has became so popular in anime and Japanese culture (dunno but it's smth like "you're straight? So booooring" and I was like... wha'? O.o *thinks 'bout gays in here* anyway I find this an interesting topic x)
Cheers,

Hey guys, this is my last post until next week, 'coz in 5 hours I am off to the Dominican Republic, where thank you God, it's hot In Peru it's winter... So, current news! Nuclear scare after Japan quake "A strong earthquake in central Japan has damaged a large nuclear power plant causing a leak of radioactive material, officials at the plant have said." About 7 people died in the city of Kashiwazaki and hundreds were injured due to the earthquake. Then there was a second earthquake that reached a 6.6 magnitude in the sea near Kyoto. Before that, about 7000 people were evacuated due to the aftershocks of up to 5.8 in magnitude hit the area. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has promised to visit Kashiwazaki and will try to restore gas and electricity supplies. Bush urges Mid-East peace talks US President George W. Bush has called for an international peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians (mm bizarre.. what about Iraq, right? ), supposedly at the end of this year. "US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will chair the talks." Mr Abbas is the Palestinian leader, and he has tried to start peace talks in the past. Russia suspends arms control pact "President Vladimir Putin has suspended the application of a key Cold War arms control treaty." (OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG) " The 1990 Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE) limits the number of heavy weapons deployed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Urals mountains (...) The suspension is not a full-scale withdrawal - but it means that Russia will no longer permit inspections or exchange data on its deployments." The moves of Mr. Putin are worsening the diplomatic relations between Russia and the US. And more deaths in Pakistan and Iraq Woohoo.. Have a good day everyone!

Hello, guys! Sooo, current news today from BBC and CNN!! Iraq bombs strike football fans As SoHuda -Huda- mentioned in the Sports Centre, Iraq won a very important football match today (against South Korea for the Asian Cup semi-finals), and in the capital city, Baghdad, there were many celebrations among the citizens. Unfortunately, there were two car bomb attacks that have killed at least 50 people and injured 135. South Korean hostage 'shot 10 times' "One of 23 South Koreans held hostage in Afghanistan by the Taliban has been killed. Provincial police chief Gen. Ali Shah Ahmadzai said the body had "bullet holes from head to toe." Deadly heat wave grips Europe England: Serious flood of the river Thames to Oxford, most serious flood in 60 years! People have even gone out to the streets with giant letters that spell E-N-O-U-G-H. Prime Minister Gordon is doing a survey in the affected areas, but citizens are not feeling it is enough and that climate change is the immediate cause for this. *Note: In the BBC there was a 2 type of views debate concerning climate change and if this indeed was caused by anthropogenic sources. One said that is was obvious, the other said it was nonsense, that climate change has always occured. However, can that climatologist verify that the change in this last 100 years has ever been so fast and high?!?! France: 4 people have died due to the serious heat waves. Hungary: "Up to 500 people are estimated to have died across Hungary last week, partly due to a heat wave gripping central and southeast Europe, Hungarian medical officials said on Tuesday." Romania: 12 people have also died to the high temperatures.

yes, those bombs were from people who don't want Iraqis to be happy!! it's really sick! also, when the Iraqi team won, when people were out to celebrate, they shot fire and some people were killed.. so this is a VERY wrong way to celecrate!

I hope nothing else has happened in Iraq! It is a horrible way to receive the celebrations, indeed So, with more news from the BBC: Thirteen dead in Red Mosque blast There was a bomb blast near a Red Mosque in Pakistan, allegedly suicidal. This was followed by clashes between Islamists and the police. "More than 180 people have been killed in militant attacks in the past few weeks." Cuban dissident in elections call Dissident Oswaldo Paya has called upon leader Fidel Castro to free all political prisoners and allow multi-party elections in a speech. The president has not been seen in public since undergoing intestinal surgery last July. This shows that, despite claims made by foreigners, there is political opposition against Castro. US economy sees stronger growth I posted about 3 months before this post that the US economy seemed to be growing slowly. However, this has apparently changed over those 3 months. "The economy grew by 3.4% on an annual basis, bouncing back from a dismal first quarter where it grew just 0.6% (...) The figure exceeded expectations by analysts who expected a 3.2% increase." 'Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.'Isaac Asimov (1920 - 1992) 'Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.'John Lennon (1940 - 1980), "Beautiful Boy" Just some quotes for you to smile all day BYE!

Stupid dude Teenage driver held over 140 mph YouTube videoLONDON (Reuters) - A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of having posted a video of himself on YouTube driving at speeds of more than 140 mph, police said Thursday. The car, a Ford Escort, was filmed on the A76 single-carriageway road in southwest Scotland. The detained 19-year-old has not been named. Sergeant Scott McLachlan, from the Roads Policing Unit at Dumfries and Galloway police, described it as "completely foolish behavior." "Not only did he endanger his own life, but that of other road-users. It is unacceptable, and to post a recording of such driving on the Internet is entirely stupid." One-in-three fatal accidents involve drivers under the age of 25, he added. "Young men in particular seem to think they are invincible behind the wheel -- but the facts tell a different story." _______ Unlucky dude... this one is funny xDDD Cars smash up man's home for 10th timeBERLIN (Reuters) - A German man said Thursday he feared he may have built his own tomb after a vehicle ploughed into his house for the 10th time. "If we stay, someone's eventually going to kill us. We're living in a time bomb," Manfred Sedlazek, 59, told Reuters. Sedlazek is reluctant to leave the house he built himself, which is on a bend of a busy road, but said it may be his only chance of survival. Earlier this week, a 40-tonne truck blasted through the side of the red-brick house in the village of Karlshoefen, in northern Germany. Sedlazek returned home from shopping to find the shattered vehicle sticking out of his living room. Police estimated the damage at more than 100,000 euros ($136,100). Nine previous smashes into the two-storey building Sedlazek shares with his wife have wrecked his kitchen, bedroom and garden, causing damage worth tens of thousands of euros.
