I do have friends who took drugs and I think because they were confused and didn't know what to do. They sure had fun but they also had family problems. I thought the problems were petty and they were. My friends never encouraged me to take drugs though. They always considered me as the youngest and the baby of the group so they were quite protective of me. They told me taking drugs wasn't worth it. My friends are ok now. They are no longer using drugs or problematizing petty things. I think they outgrew it. I never judged them though. I never left them. I knew they were good people deep inside.

That's a very good post hekatea. You're right, we shouldn't be judgemental. We should stand by our friends or family members during difficult times, since that's when they need us the most. You put it very nicely hekatea.

I believe some people go through some phases like taking drugs and we cannot fully understand why. We can only worsen the situation and pull our friends down if we keep on yacking at them. I remember this classmate from college who admitted to me that she was taking drugs and she had a boyfriend who beat her up and sexually abused her. I cried for her and prayed for her. She wanted me to go with her in fear that her boyfriend might beat her again. This bf was a gang member and was really very violent. Without second thought, I was just behind her all the time. I never told my friends even if my life was in danger too. She was in depression and I made sure that she was eating well and checking up with her doctor regularly. After six months she told me that she stopped taking drugs. I was so proud of her. Luckily her ex-bf migrated to Australia.
I guess, it's being exposed to different people that makes me more tolerant. As much as possible I don't want to impose on other people. Most of the time, listening and being with them make you realize that there is so much to learn.

What do you think? Why is it that many young people are taking to drugs, inspite of knowing the harmful effects of drugs? Family members, schools, media and the society - all of them highlight the harmful effects of drugs and educate people and urge them to say NO to drugs.Even then the menace of drug abuse is still on rise. Why is this so?What do you think should be done in this situation to prevent drug abuse? I think I found the right organization this is another thing I can relate to. For me when I tried drugs it was almost like I thought it was cool because everyone around me was doing it. I may have only smoked weed but that was wrong because it didn't help me and some time I forgot what I was doing. Now since I have not been smoking for about 8 months now I have been able to work harder in school and it been easier for me to do what needs to be done. That the thing you know people can tell you but until they share what they went threw then you will never believe them. I think that to be able to get it to the people of the world. Have people that have dealt with these certain situations to talk about it. Myself going threw a lot I begin to share since I know that it can help me save life. I know my life was at a risk when someone violated me holding on to the faith I had. Till this day people that go threw rapes like me I share my story to let them know that they can get threw it have faith that nothing will allow them form reaching threw goal. It time for people to hiding there personal background and problems because then people will thank well who the world they think they are they don't understand anything I o threw.

I myself had to realize that this was not right for me the main person that help me quit was my God brother because he taught me how it was helping me and showed me how my grades we going down due to the fact of me drinking and smoking.

I think that my advice to the fellow teens is don't do it you never no what it will come to. Some of my friends were doing drugs and guess where they ended up in the ground. I survived and I am here to tell you there story and mine. IT NOT RITE I WANT YOU TO LIVE A GREAT LIFE. Look at these statistics if that don't help you email me at travbodd@yahoo.com and I will really let you know the life I lived and what happened.
Troubling Teen Drug Use Statistics The negative effects of teen drug use are undeniable and obvious. When considering those negative effects, it is alarming to see some of the actual statistics concerning the amount of teen drug use in highschools and middle schools. In addition, many parents have felt that their teen's alcohol use is ok because it isn't a harder drug like crack, or heroine. However, it should be noted that alcohol kills five times more teenagers than all other drugs combined(usually through accidents)! Below are just a few of alarming statics associated with teen drug use and the effects of alcohol on teenagers.
- Illicit teen drug use as of 2003. * 8th grade -- 30.3% * 10th grade -- 44.9% * 12th grade -- 52.8%
- Underage drinking costs the United States more than $58 billion dollars annually, enough for a new state of the art computer for every student.
- In the last thirty days 50% of teenagers report drinking with 32% being drunk at least on one occasion.
If you have a child that is dealing with teen drug abuse and or substance abuse, please help them get the help they need to turn their life around.

My classmates take drugs, they have tried to give some to me, too. I think they do it because they think that the things that are illegal are "funny" and that is the way the media says is "young people". I mean, if you are young, you have to take drugs. That's a message that is in the society -at least in my country, Argentina. I don't know why they think taking drugs is "cool". It won't take them out of the reality - only disconnect for a while. I also think that some people that are depressed try this way to found a bit of happiness, that's our responsability too, trying to take them out of their depression.

hmmm... Unfortunately they are affected by those Drug dealers. Many teens have psychological problems that think that they can solve by taking drugs. Some of them want to feel special and some other want to feel "nice". the thing is that they don't understand that they are destroying themselves by taking drugs.
