I'm reading Great Expectation by Charles Dickens. And I finished reading Chicken Soup: for the sister's soul 2, it was such a nice read. My sister got it for us and it has really amazing and inspiring stories about sisterhood, I recommend it highly! ;)

What have you been reading?

Heyy, it's been ages since I posted in here and I've read a lot of books that I feel like I have to share them with you guys...

Great Expectation- a good read, Dickens' novels are really good.
North and South- An amazing book by Elizabeth Gaskell, I'd give it a 10\10 because it's just wonderful.
The Count of Monte Cristo - This book is really great, it's definitely one of a kind and I'd recommend it highly because the story is very compelling.

Now I'm reading The woman in White by Wilkie Collins. It's great so far, and inshallah I'll write a review about it when I'm done reading it. :)

I'm reading Kathy Reichs' new book Devil Bones (part of the Tempe Brennan series) it's about a satanic/voodoo serial killer this time.. So far it's been a pretty good book, as always she's truly a great writer! :)

Title: The Woman In White
Author: Wilkie Collins
Publisher: Penguin Classics

The woman in white is a wonderful thriller. It's nothing like anything I've ever read. It's very exciting and the author excelled in creating an amazing mystery. I'd highly recommend it. It's just sooo good. How the events unfold and everything leaves you eager to see what's going to happen next.
The plot is about when Walter meets a woman in white, to whom he offers his help. Soon after, he comes to know that this woman has escaped from a private asylum. From then forward, the mystery begins because Walter is very interested in this woman, and tries to learn as much as he can about her.

I've finished reading today Saturday by Ian McEwan, a great author (he wrote Atonement which is great)
It's about the British people's view on the war on Iraq, it's very interesting, since he made some points I can relate to! so I liked it! I've never read a novel about that! so it was really interesting!

Still reading Kathy Reich's latest, I have such little time lately with college I only have time to read in the train for like 20 minutes or so.. But anyways so far it's a great book, I love how she is able to write in such detail..

But that wasn;t what I was going to talk about it :P Alyssa Milano is now a published author and I of course had to get a copy.. It will come out march 24th in the US (you can pre-order at amazon though) I couldn;t order it at amazon and I was really bummed out because I was afraid it wouldn;t come out here but I went to my local book shop anyway and 10 minutes later I walked out knowing I would get my book april 1st (yeah it's not a joke, I hope :P)
It's about Baseball, the title is: Safe at home: Confessions of a Baseball fanatic! I'm really excited I;ve followed her blogs for quite some time now and I've always said she would make a great writer, that she has a way with words so I hope it'll be a succes and that she'll write some more..

I have been reading a lot lately.
Saturday
Ian McEwan

The two books that I've read for Ian McEwan were enough to know that he's a great author. No one writes the way he does. He writes about the little details of life, that you think only you think of and so you don't voice it out loud, but he's just beyond words.

Saturday is a story about a doctor's day, from beginning to end! I do recommend it highly. He's really good!

Title: Wives and Daughters
Author:Elizabeth Gaskell
Publisher: Wordsworth Classics

I love classics! And I loved this one! It's just really good. Wives and Daughters follows the life of a family, and how circumstances bring them together. Elizabeth Gaskell has a way of creating beautiful characters. She died leaving this book unfinished, but nonetheless it didn't take anything away from the beauty of it.
It's great.
My Rate: 10\10

Title: Twilight
Author: Stephinie Meyer

I think everyone knows the story, or at least the base line of Twilight. The book is great. Really! I didn't expect it to be, I thought it was too hyped but it turned out to be really good. I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to reading the sequels sometime soon!

My Rate: 9\10

I've also read On The Hills of God by IBRAHIM FAWWAL who is a Palestinian/ American author who was born in Ramallah. The book talks about el nakba and how Palestine was divided when they declared the country of Isreal. It's great because it gives you a really good insight on what happened, throughout the point of view Yousef, a 17 year old boy who strives to fight for his country and his love. It's such a great book, I am really happy I got to read it, but it just is so sad. If anyone wanted to know more about what happened in Palestine back in 1947, I'd definitely recommend this book.

Ok so I got my copy of Alyssa's book 2 weeks ago (3 days before it came out in the US :D)

And it was amazing seriously! It's a memoire and as soon as I finished it, I started to read again because it's just so awesome!
It's about how baseball is a generational gift, passed on from father to son or daughter.. It talks about how baseball is integrated in the lifes of fans, how it resembles life.. It talks about it how it was integrated in her life (her charity work for UNICEF and how baseball played a roll in her depression and charity work)
I could go on and on, it comes down to one thing it's awesome and it's about baseball LOL!

Laid my hands on this book after a long gap in reading!

Title: Manual of the Warrior of Light
Author: Paulo Coelho
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers

This book starts with a mystic prologue and then unwinds into descriptions about the "warriors of Light". The author has described how a human can enhance his way of living and had inculcated the zen philosophy (the art of life and happiness) through his consecutive short descriptions of the "warrior of light".

This is book really makes us feel positive about the way we live and also points out the scope to improve the same.
The book made me feel as if I am one such warrior of light and also has a bit of contradiction, for which the author answers in the epilogue. May be that is because the author is one such warrior!! :-)

This is the first book I've read, written by this author and he has certainly captivated with his style.

I would recommend this book to any young mind!

My rating:- 8.5/10

It's Summer in this part of world, so I have more time to read and I've read some books that I'd like to tell you about.

-The Karamazov Brothers, by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I really liked it. The author has a way of writing that easily gets you hooked to his writing, I'd recommend it if you like classics.

- Echoes by Danielle Steel. It's an interesting read, but I didn't like it much. I'd give it a 5\10. It's just that things in the novel were very convenient.

- The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. I'd give it a 10\10 because it was an amazing read, that I would recommend to everyone. Really really good! It's about the journey of a father and a son in a world that has been ruined. Very original.

What are you Summer reads guys?

Are there any fans of EM Forster out there? The English author considered of the best of the 20th century.

His books are not for everyone. They're not action-packed but they are very thoughtful, revealing the failings of human nature in his society.

Best EMF books - Passage to India, Collection of Short Stories.

Furbank's biography of EMF is great too.

Hello everyone. I need to talk about books, and since it's the Summer let's kick off the talks again here!!

So far I've been open to new books, I've read a classic; Middlemarch by George Eliot which was amazing. I've been reading more Arabic books and I'm really happy about that. And I've finished the 4th book of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
Right now, I'm reading Palace of Desire which is the 2nd book of the famous Cairo Triology by Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz, and I really like it so far. It's different, and it gets you deep in the world of old Egypt.

What have you been reading?
