 Life in Greece
« Thread Started on Dec 10, 2007, 3:06pm »

Actually I am going to describe the life of a 16 year old Greek.

Every student has to wake up at 07.30 in the morning every day in order to get ready for school, in which has 7 hours lessons. After the school lessons, has to go to "Private"school lessons, these lessons help you with the Final Exams. But what are the final Exams? Let me explain in a few words the Educational System in Greece

Public School ( 6years )* ==> High School (3 years)* ==> Technical Liceum (Technical Senior High School) or General Liceum ( General Senior High School) ==> University or Technical University
( In * the compalsory education and in bold the levels of the education I have finished or I am finishing and have a clear view of what is being done there)

I am now in the General Liceum, in the 2nd year ( I am done in 1 year).
Ok. In the 2nd year you have to select one of the Scientific Directions according to what you want to become.
Public SChool cannot offer you the support for the Final Exams in the 3rd Year that are the "Exams of your Life", becuase you are judged there to which schools you can go.
Anyway, a youth must study a lot in order to achieve his targets in Greece... and public school does not helps the student, even some teachers don't care about what you are going to do or not. That's why you must attend to a Private school, that helps you with the Final Exams in the afternoon. It's like having 2 schools the same day!
Anyway, in weekdays you must study a lot, but in weekends you go out with your friends and have fun... (as you know, nightlife in Greece is worth it ;) )

Do what ever that may lead you to your goal. Because it is your goal, then you must realize that it is within your power to achieve it. It is so close to coming true and you know it deep within. Wait for none and explain to none why or what! Just break free from this life and its barriers! The beautiful sun shine is there, you just have to see it. Look closely.....
