Absolutely great and apt post that too, on the occasion of Republic Day!
You're right in saying that India is shining only for the elite and the middle classes. The people living below poverty line are further receding into the realms of poverty. This is evident from the thousands of farmers committing suicide every year and the sidelining of India's lower caste people and Muslims.
But nonetheless, India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.Inflation rates are SOARING! I hope the government does something soon, otherwise you can find that the prices of commodities like fruits and vegetables are increasing week after week!
The NGOs here, are somewhat redundant. So its useless to talk about them and their work.
Talking of India's youth, well, they've woken up in a big way! Their increasing participation in public life and their rising levels of awareness is a very good sign. But this is seen only in the urban youth of India. The rural youth still aren't aware of their rights, duties and don't have enough opportunities.
Like all the ad campaigns say, there're two Indias - one is shining and making progress by leaps and bounds, taking the world by storm and the other one is reeling under the burden of poverty, unemployment and lack of opportunities.
I hope we're able to change the scenario someday and integrate the other India into the path of progress.Let's be optimistic! The future belongs to us and definitely we'll make it great!

I cant agree more. A superpower country in the making. If they really keeping up the pace, India and not to forget China will definitely join the superpower county in this world, and even better than U.S. I really love the country India. I dont know why, but ive been watching hindi movie since i was a kid. The IT industry in India is going crazy. Many big names in the industry are making investment there. Some of the brightest man in the IT industry are from India. I cant name them in the IT but steel? Yeah. Mittal. One of the richest Indian in the world. If he's controlling the steel, he's controlling the world.
China is the most populous country in this world followed by India. By this fact, we can assumed of what's going to happen next. They can control the market, the import export, the price of goods, and etc2.
Their relations with ASEAN is good which we can actually share the same market and take advantage from the market. The asean free trade agreement (AFTA) is in the making, and if i'm not wrong, India and China is joining the talk. This is going to be good. And if India and China will lead, it's going to be better, as we share some of the culture from both countries here in Malaysia, and not to forget, ASEAN. With good cultural knowledge, will normally lead to good relationship.
Happy Republic Day to India. Congratulations with the developments and hope to see you developed.

Thanks for your response Amar!I can't say they'd be better than the US, but they're certainly in the race for becoming a super power.

Gr8 to know you love the country.Have you ever visited India? And you've been watching Hindi movies?!Wow!Gr8! Even Hindi movies have been making waves all over the world.Canada's official entry to the Oscars (for the Best Foreign film category), the film "Water" is actually an Indian film made by Indian director Deepa Mehta and stars Indian actors."Water" is now one of the 5 nominees for the Oscars for "Best Foreign Film".
IT Industry is definitely going crazy! They're growing by leaps and bounds!
Mittal is the fifth richest person in the world. He's merged company with European steel giant "Arcelor" now.And today itself, its official that another steel giant and one of the richest people in India, Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Steel has won the bid battle against CSN for Corus Group (UK steel giant) with an $11.3 billion offer.
Really, Indians are making their presence felt everywhere. In the year, 1999 Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan was voted as the "World's Greatest actor on stage or screen of the Millenium" in the BBC Online poll. And in 2003, Indian actress and former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai was voted as the "Most beautiful woman in the world".
Last year, Indian author Kiran Desai won the prestigious Man Booker prize for her book, "The Inheritance of Loss".And another Indian woman Indra Nooyi was appointed the first woman CEO of America's Pepsico.
This year, Indian actor & superstar Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the "Legion d'Honneur" (Legion of Honor), which is France's highest civilian award, for his contribution to Indian and International Cultural life.
Indians are making a mark in every arena.

Yes you're right Amar!Let's hope for the best. But you see, this huge population actually goes against our countries, especially India, since it only adds to the burden of poverty.Population in India certainly and urgently needs to be controlled, otherwise all the growth would come to a standstill someday. Our pace of growth could've been much faster had we not added an Australia to our population every year.
Yeah, our relations with the ASEAN are good.Hope India is able to work out the solutions to her problems. Thanks Amar!

By the way, Zach I noticed the changes on the "Join Us" page, Partners page and the Introduction page of the main website.Great job, I must say!
On the Welcome page, you've provided a link to the blog post about what we enjoy doing. Please change it to "What our members enjoy doing for leisure?" [You can skip the "for leisure" part if you want].
The spelling mistakes on the Staff Profiles page are still there.
